graduation - not a moment too soon!

The term has been ridiculously busy, and even though I knew it would be so, it still caught me by surprise. In that sudden nostalgia as you realize you're about to leave, I ran around campus a bit to take photos of various Yale landmarks and events.

Sterling Memorial Library in January. Don't let no one tell you different: the snow falls in heaps here. And it can be beautiful and serene, yes.

Jess and Wei had a double birthday party this year--lots of pink, lots of friends, lots of fun =)

Sue and I stop for a quick shot in the early morning hours of Communiversity Day 2005. Not much going on in this one, except that it captures the essence of me this semester: running around with my hands full, avoiding eye contact behind sunglasses or a glazed expression.

Spring Fling 2005: it's not about the concert or the bands, it's about celebrating the end of classes (AHEM, unless you've an obnoxious Group IV yet) and ushering in beautiful spring weather.

Among the senior week events is Last Chance Dance, where lusty abandon comes full circle: just as the beginning of freshman year witnessed the antics of teenagers exploring newfound freedoms from parental scrutiny, the end of senior year concedes to liberation of the wild side found in many a repressed Yalie. As for me, I'll take almost any excuse to dress up - in this case, in my Audrey Hepburn outfit, with Catherine in her green faery dress!

[reserving this space for the Women's Table episode, for I could not have properly graduated without
the ritual slide across that memorial to women at Yale! Ohhhh-FIVE!!]

While the university-wide graduation ceremony was held on Old Campus (with the med, law, div, grad schools, etc.), we received our diplomas in our individual colleges. The grin on my face is not for finally graduating, but rather for having made an ass of myself as well as Master Sledge a short while before when he read the departmental prizes and mispronounced my name so that I had no idea he meant me. I stumbled up, klutzy and mortarboard falling off, completely in Anh-style.

The clan. Lil bro is still bigger than I am, even when I am in heels--what's up with that?

For Class Day, we wear silly hats--Dr. Seuss hats, Viking helmets, an upside-down boot, garlands, a shower cap, anything. L to R: Liana, me, Caroline, Magni (Hounfolk). I made some sort of spin-off propellerane and attached a cat-toy mouse on the front, symbolizing my two disciplines, neuroscience and chemistry.

This picture is actually from Summer 2004, when I took an ecology & evolutionary biology lab, but I wanted to put it in. We took a field trip on the Long Island Sound and did various assessments of the water quality. Here, I'm measuring the water density. Vicky found this picture for me on the E&EB department website!
